Critical Home Repair

Habitat Family Story – Building Hope

Habitat Family Story – Building Hope

"When Habitat said I was next in the queue for repairs, I was so excited!"

Ms. Fleming, a longtime resident of Mickie Town Road, received critical home repairs from Habitat after being encouraged by her daughter. Her home had major issuesβ€”including peeling siding, broken windows, a damaged deck, and unexpected roofing damage. The Louisa volunteer team dedicated over 500 hours to complete the repairs last fall. Grateful for the support, Ms. Fleming shares a heartfelt β€œThank you!”

Ms. Fleming has lived on Mickie Town Road for over 50 years. As a single retired childcare provider in the Western part of Louisa County, she turned to Habitat for help with critical home repairs after encouragement from her daughter. β€œWhen [Habitat] said I was next in the queue [for repairs], I was so excited!”

Ms. Fleming’s aging home had original peeling siding, broken windows, and a deteriorating rear deck. During demolition, the Louisa volunteer team also found significant water damage to the roofing that needed replacing.

Over 500 volunteer hours were spent on this critical home repair project by the Louisa team, completed last fall. To all of the Habitat supporters who made this possible, Ms. Fleming offers her heartfelt, β€œThank you!”
