Lifelong Resident Mashante F. Takes Leap of Faith

When Mashante F. learned that she was accepted into the Habitat homebuyer program, she admittedly “cried like a baby,” and “got on the phone with everybody to tell them I made it.”

A lifelong resident of Charlottesville, Mashante had struggled to find housing for so long that she had almost given up. But a nudge from a friend this year convinced her to take a leap of faith. Now, she and her two children – J’von (17) and Trinity (13) – are working on sweat equity toward purchasing a home in the new Flint Hill neighborhood in the JPA area.
