Do You Qualify?

Applicants must meet all of the following:

• Have lived or worked in Charlottesville, Albemarle, Louisa or Greene for at least the past 12 months

• Total household income falls between 25% - 60% of Area Median Income (AMI) as defined annually by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development

• Be a first-time homebuyer or have not owned a home within the last 3 years

 

Application and Program Timeframes

The Core Homeownership Program is a long-term commitment and partnership between Habitat for Humanity and future homeowners.

Timeframes:

• Application: The application process takes approximately 5 months. 

• Homebuyer Program: The typical timeframe between approval for homeownership and purchase of a home is between 12 to 24 months.

 

Application Information Meetings

Are you interested in applying to the Core Homeownership Program? We are currently hosting Application Information Meetings (AIMs). During AIMs, we discuss the application process, expectations for the Core Homebuyer Program, and home design details.

You MUST attend an AIM (in person or virtually) OR watch the AIM video recording and take the AIM quiz before we can process your application.

• August 13, 2024 at 6:00 PM

• August 27, 2024 at 6:00 PM

• We will accept applications beginning September 3, 2024
• Be sure to submit your application early! This application cycle will close when one of the following conditions has been met (whichever occurs sooner):
  • Staff have received 100 viable applications
  • September 30, 2024
