Women Build works to recruit, empower, and train women to build simple, decent, and affordable homes. The Women Build worksites provide a unique opportunity to learn construction skills and to build leadership and teamwork skills. The Greater Charlottesville Women Build program was founded in the fall of 2001.

Women Build is currently constructing its sixth house, a duplex at 320-322 Valley Road Extended in Charlottesville. Women Build has partnered with Ms. Mary Schriber and District 1 Presbyterian Church to build these homes. Construction began in September 2007 and is scheduled for completion in Summer 2008. Women Build is co-sponsoring a two family townhome for the Tyree family and their neighbors. There will be a dedication ceremony in August.
