YOUTH UNITED MAIN         YU PROJECTS         DONATE TO YU         MEMBER SCHOOLS

4 Councils 1 mission

In 2002 the Inter-Greek Council was created to facilitate interaction among the four Greek councils on Grounds: Inter-Fraternity Council, Multi-Cultural Greek Council, National Pan-Hellenic Council, and the Inter-Sorority Council. A major mission of this council was to involve the members of each Greek community in the achievement of one goal: the completion of a Habitat House. Since then, we have achieved remarkable success.  Our first home on 6 1/2 St was completed in 2007 by the efforts of all the various groups working side-by-side on Fridays and Saturdays throughout the Fall and Spring.  This was the first "Creative Housing" home project.

Then, in 2007, we began the construction of a second home, the 316 & 318 Valley Road project. This house is near completion; we are anxiously awaiting the selection of an eligible Partner Family to finalize the details of the building process.  The dedication of this home is being coordinated with HFHGC.

Currently, the main focus of our steering committee is fundraising for the third house.  We feel that it is of utmost importance to keep the Greek community involved with Habitat for Humanity.  Not only does this project make tangible improvements in the Greater Charlottesville area, but also involvement allows UVA students to venture beyond grounds to make an impact in the community while simultaneously developing friendship outside of the Greek organizations they are a part of.

HoW TO DONATE:

To be a primary sponsor of a Habitat House, we must raise $60,000.  This is accomplished by sponsoring fundraising events around Grounds, by partnering with major corporations in Charlottesville, by seeking the support of philanthropic groups in the University, and most importantly by donations made by members of the Greek Communities, their families, and other involved individuals.  Every little bit counts towards making someone’s home a reality.

To pay online with PayPal click here

This link directs you to the Youth United Donations page.  Near the end of the checkout process, there will be a free text field called "Special Instructions".

It is VERY IMPORTANT that in this field you designate “INTER GREEK.”  This ensures that your donation will go directly to our house’s funding.

For Checks:  Please write checks to Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville.  In the designation link please write “Inter-Greek”. They can be mailed to:
