Information for Our Partner Families
Habitat doesn’t give away homes. Our Partner Families are selected based on housing need, income and willingness to partner, then work hard to earn the right to purchase a home at an affordable rate with a zero interest mortgage.
Partner Families earn sweat equity building their homes and the homes of their neighbors, save for a down payment and attend homebuyer education classes prior to closing on their homes. Partner Family mortgage payments then go back into the Fund for Humanity, allowing us to build more homes in partnership with local, hard-working families and the community.
At every step in the process, including after a home is purchased, Habitat is there to support families.
At orientation, each family receives a Partner Family Partnership Manual containing all of the information they should need to become a Habitat homeowner.
Families are also paired with a Partner Family Advocate from the community to work one-on-one with them as they earn sweat equity, purchase their home and beyond.
After families move in, they work with Habitat’s Director of Construction to service any warrantee items, receive a service manual instructing them how to most efficiently maintain and use the energy-efficient features of their homes, and keep contact with Habitat through Family Services Manager Shelley Cole.
