Victoria Gilman's Gift
Victoria Gilman had long supported the work of Habitat, and when she was making decisions about the disposition of her assets through her estate, she thought about how she might help Habitat. She wanted to help as many families as possible to achieve their dream of home ownership through her gift, and decided that a gift of her home was the best way to accomplish this.
When Victoria passed away in 2009, her home on Wakefield Road became the property of Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville. Habitat invested some volunteer time into sprucing up the home, and in 2010, sold the home to a local family. The proceeds from this sale were invested in sponsorships for six new Habitat Partner Families, who will reside in the condominium building at Sunrise Park.
Six dreams are coming true, thanks to Victoria Gilman's gift.
