Blitz Build 2010 a Huge Success

Some of you will remember Builders Blitz 2006, an amazing feat of building--six homes in six days -- that launched Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville’s first mixed income development located in Fifeville at the intersection of Nunley & Paton Streets.
As Habitat was beginning construction of the final four Habitat homes in the Fifeville development, the Charlottesville community rallied again.
More than 200 volunteers, Habitat staff, and Partner Families participated in Blitz Build 2010 during the weekends of July 10th-11th and 17th-18th. Despite a delayed start on the first morning due to the rain, and scorching hot days both weekends, the project was accomplished ahead of schedule – thanks to a tremendous, community wide effort. In two weekends, we accomplished work that normally would have taken six to eight weeks to complete!
Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville thanks all who made Blitz Build 2010 possible! Please check our website at www.cvillehabitat.org for a list of participants and photos of the event. We hope to see you all again soon as we continue to build these homes and as we begin our next adventure, the trailer park transformation at Sunrise.
