One Week, Six Homes

In the Summer of 2006, local builders, architects, vendors, and other businesses joined hundreds of volunteers to help Habitat for Humanity of Greater Charlottesville affiliate build six homes with six families in one week!
2006 Builder's Blitz work site Blitz 2006

The sun was shining as local builders, architects, the City of Charlottesville, and numerous subcontractors and suppliers came together and made it happen: the creation of 6 new affordable homes in only one week!

The festivities began with a short kickoff speech; by the end of day one, the roofs were installed. The positive energy was so intense that some teams found themselves ahead of schedule! Homes were completed with final paint and carpet by the end of the week.

The event concluded with a neighborhood dedication party and short ceremony with music, food, and a brand new skyline to admire. Utility hookups, street, sidewalk, walkways, and landscaping followed over the next two months. All team members reported the event a success and provided important feedback to ensure a future Blitz will be even better!
