Unforgettable Move-In Weekend at Sunrise Park
In 2004, when Habitat purchased the Sunrise Trailer Court, we promised the residents that they could stay in their long time neighborhood. This week Habitat kept that promise, bringing volunteers from throughout the community and beyond to help nine residents move out of their trailers to their new apartments across the street.
Special thanks to the volunteers who braved the 100+ degree heat, working with residents' family members to get the families in their new homes. Helping out were Presbyterian Piedmonth Mission Group, Women Build, Youth United, Ivy Creek Methodist Church, Habitat Board and staff members, staff from AARP, and a number of individuals from the community.
The excitement continues as next Saturday, July 14th, Habitat will dedicate the homes of the six Habitat Partner Families who will move into the condominiums in the Promise Keeper building later this month. The dedication will take place outside the building, 1412 Carlton Ave. at 2:00pm.
Sunrise Park continues to grow. Four homes are underway and will be dedicated in August, The current trailers will be sold or recycled, freeing up the remaining space for six additional Habitat homes and numerous market rate lots. Habitat will celebrate the completion of "Phase I" of the Sunrise redevelopment on Saturday, September 15. Mark the date and watch our events page for more information.
